"Sea Buckthorn Fund for Poverty Alleviation" Set Up

On the 27th of October, Xining Biotechnology Industrial Park and Puredia hosted the first Hong Kong-Qinghai “Sea Buckthorn Fund for Poverty Alleviation” launch event.

Sea buckthorn is an emerging berry fruit tree. It has been consumed as food and used a medicine. It is known as the second-generation fruit, the "plateau gold" and "King of vitamin C". China is a big producer of seabuckthorn and Qinghai is the main seabuckthorn producing area. Moreover, the nutritional profile of sea buckthorn grown in Qinghai, such as Vitamin C, is better than in other regions.

Seabuckthorn cultivation and processing has become an important agricultural and animal husbandry industry in our province. Related seabuckthorn products have been exported to more than 30 countries in the world, and it has continued to grow.

Dr. Hywel Yuen, the chairman of Puredia from Hong Kong, donated 1 million yuan to set up the "Sea Buckthorn Fund for Poverty Alleviation", which aims to help farmers engage in related sea buckthorn production by organizing technical training and other methods to promote local economic development and increase farmers' income, helping farms to get rid of poverty and become rich.
