Sea Buckthorn Boosts Collagen Synthesis & Crosslinking

A new study suggested that sea buckthorn antioxidant-rich extract, CyanthOx™, promotes collagen synthesis in human skin fibroblasts.[1] In particular, CyanthOx™ enhanced Collagen I expression, restoring it to the same level before the H2O2-induced senescence. Additionally, it also boosted SOD (superoxide dismutase), GSH (glutathione) and eliminated excess ROS (reactive oxygen species). These showed that CyanthOx™ could enhance the skin's antioxidant status and thus protect our skin from oxidative stress.

This new study supports the result of a human clinical trial conducted earlier, which demonstrated an 11% increase in SOD, a 4% increase in GSH, and a 15% decrease in MDA in 106 humans.[2] In addition, CyanthOx™ could also act as a natural and biocompatible collagen crosslinker, strengthening the structure and stability of collagen. Apart from that, it was also shown to stimulate the circulating stem cells by over 40% in our bodies, rejuvenating cells and tissues due to oxidative stresses and aging.[3]
